Children Need a Mom and a Dad
In 2006 the citizens of Colorado faced a significant crossroad, and they confirmed traditional marriage in Colorado.
The Colorado Legislature forced this decision on the people of Colorado through HB06-1344, which tried to create same-sex civil unions through the 2006 general election.
Children need a mom and a dad. For thousands of years the family has been understood by all to be a mother and a father, giving life, direction, and hope to the next generation.
Same-sex civil unions would impose on our culture an entirely different view of marriage and the family. To radically redefine the family is at best a risky social experiment with the lives of our children, and future generations.
In countries that have already created civil unions, the end result has been that long-term commitment to marriage has all but disappeared.
Civil unions may not directly affect your marriage, but are you willing to put your children's and grandchildren's future at risk? This is a one-way street. If we ever embrace a new view of marriage, it will all but impossible to reverse direction.
